Our Story
Welcome to Old School BBQ, where we turned a dream and a vintage American school bus into one of the UK’s most beloved barbecue joints. It all started when we brought an old school bus over from Arizona and fired up our first smokers right in the Royal Oak car park in Failsworth.
With training roots in Austin, Texas, we built this place from the ground up into the UK’s very first outdoor BBQ restaurant under a tent. Today, we’re proud to say we’ve earned awards, been featured on “Come Dine With Me Professionals,” and become a go-to spot for real BBQ lovers. Our story is all about staying true to those smoky roots and bringing folks together for some unforgettable barbecue.
Time To Expand…
Our little yellow bus soon became a familiar landmark, and we became more and more popular with local people who enjoyed our freshly prepared food served with a smile. Soon the increasing demand meant that we would often be greeting our customers with a “sold out” sign, so it was time to expand. So then the Old School BBQ was built by Marks fair hands. 7 months to build to what you see today, with upgrades along the way.
A Local Landmark…
These days the bus is permanently parked here at our unique wild west themed indoor restaurant, recently refurbished (after the pandemic) to make it an even more amazing and quirky little space. We have a fully stocked bar, live music every weekend and we even have a kids playground in the outside seating area.
Come On Down!
We can host parties and weddings and every week there are amazing deals to be had which can be found on all our social media platforms. The latest addition is our very own Northern inspired flavoured Moonshine, it’s only available here at the Old School BBQ so come on down and give it a try with new flavour just launched Key Lime Pie and Hangman’s Honey Hooch.
